Choose the most appropriate option for your agency from the alternatives listed below.

Alternative A: Perform Task 1.6(a) if your response to question 3 and 4 on the architecture worksheet was any of the following:

Network: The PC workstations in our headquarters are connected to a Local Area Network (LAN). We have access to a network drive in the office. We plan on having a multiple PC workstations running TraCS in office mode. One of these PCs will also be our TraCS master computer. We are also able to connect to the Internet so that we can download software updates and transmit data.

MS-Access: We plan on no more than 1 or 2 concurrent users in an office setting. Squad cars will use the mobile mode of TraCS. This option is not recommended for large or high connectivity agencies.

Alternative B: Perform Task 1.6(b) if your response to question 3 and 4on the architecture work was:

No connectivity for field units and no local area network: We don’t have access to a network drive in the office. We plan on having a single standalone workstation running TraCS in office mode. This will also be our master computer which we connect to the Internet so that we can download software updates and transmit data. USB flash drives are our primary means of transferring data between computers.

MS-Access: We plan on no more than 1 or 2 concurrent users in an office setting. Squad cars will use the mobile mode of TraCS. This option is not recommended for large or high connectivity agencies.

Alternative C: Perform Task 1.6(c) if your response to question 4 on the architecture work was:

SQL Server: We plan on multiple concurrent users in the office. Squad cars may also be configured for office mode if we have high connectivity. Squad cars may be configured for mobile mode if we have low or no connectivity in the field. We understand this option is recommended for medium and large agencies. We have SQL Server administration skills.
