How to Create a Group Chat

Group Chat Session

 

*****IMPORTANT******

  • Limit any location based chat to the county or 50 Mile Range  

  • Limit any user based Chat to 500 users.  

  • Only DSP Supervisors can Create Inter Agency Chats

A Group Chat session is used to communicate or share data with multiple MACH users.  New Chat sessions appear in the Sessions panel.

There are two types of chat sessions available in MACH Recipient and Location based.

A Recipient Based session allows the sender of the session to identify a set of specific users for the session to be sent to.

  • To create a Recipient based session follow these steps

Step 1

  • Click the Chat icon for the session type that you want to create on the ribbon controls.

Step 2

  • Choose the sub type of session.

  • Click Next to continue. 

Step 3

  • Select the users you would like to invite to the session and click Next.

Step 4 

  • Enter a name for the session and an initial message.  Click Next to continue to the next step.

Step 5

  • Choose when the session should expire and click Next.

  • Click Finish to confirm the creation of the session.

 

  • To create a Location based session follow these steps

Step 1

  • Click the icon for the session type that you want to create on the ribbon controls.

Click Next to continue.
 
 Step 3

  • Select the location of the session and click Next.

NOTE: A location is mandatory for location based sessions.

Step 4

  • Choose the radius of the session.  All users within this radius, that your agency has given you permission to send sessions to, will receive this session.

  • Alternatively, you may choose a predefined zone instead of a radius.  These predefined zones are configured by your agency administrator and may or may not be available.

Step 5

  • Enter a name for the session and an initial message.  Click Next to continue to the next step.

  • Choose when the session should expire and click Next.

Click Finish to confirm the creation of the session.
