Purge and Archiving Processes

  • Purge and Archive processes both continuing to run smoothly.

  • 986,950 total archived crashes of which 377,229 represent purged crashes (the archive adds approximately 13K crashes per month).  This includes 1,843,240 total image files.

FY24 Project Planning

  • FY24 SPR application and budget submitted on 4/28.

HWYCLASS Working Group

  • TOPS STN/WSLR/LINK-LINK data request sent to BSHP on 7/5

  • Continuing to onboard the grad student to help with the effort

  • Will resume workgroup meetings later this summer / early Fall

WisTransPortal / Community Maps

  • Community Maps 101 and 201 sessions at GCHS

  • Planning for new Community Maps “Train Flag”

Crash Records Unit

Questions from Law Enforcement Agencies:

  • CRU business unit provided email, phone, and remote support to law enforcement agencies to resolve Validation errors in the DT4000 crash form.

  • We received 33 LEA questions in the last 8 weeks, this time there were questions about different crash scenarios involving.

    • 4 Hit and Run Crashes

    • 2 questions about Crash diagram

    • 3 questions about Non-Reportable Crashes

    • 2 involving fatal crash.

    • 4 involving Illegally Parked Vehicle

    • 2 questions about citations

Transmission failures:

  • We addressed 32 transmission failures in the last 8 weeks after providing solution to the agencies.

    • 20 are transmitted

    • 10 are transmitted as other Document (Duplicate Document Number)

    • 2 are pending with agencies.

DT4000 Fatal Crashes:

  • Tracking is done for missing DT4000 fatal crashes, and the agency is contacted when a 3-week due date is met from the crash date.

  • Currently there is 1 fatal crash from Milwaukee PD with crash date of 2023-06-28 meeting the three-week due date.

  • FARS team is working with Badger Tracs team to make modifications to the Fatal Notification Form.

Online Purchase of Crash Reports

  • UAT Regression testing and Production Verification completed for purchase of crash reports for deployment to production.

    • Bug fix for electronic check payments deployed on 06/29.

    • Added DOT Fault exception errors deployed on 07/13.

Enhancements to Crash Database & Resolve System

  • Testing completed in UAT for tentative deployment to production on 2023-08-02.

  •  In the last eight weeks, 3 normal change request was submitted to Change Advisory Board which includes:

    • One change request for Development cycle June 2023 Tick.

    • Monthly server maintenance for June 2023 and July 2023.
