  • Maintenance Updates and System Stability

    • 5/21/2023 - Last monthly server maintenance window

    • 5/5/2023 – Low risk maintenance window for Resolve System updates

    • Ongoing coordination with UW DoIT Oracle Licensing Team

      • Per campus leadership, there is no expectation that we will need to budget or pay for the Oracle contract in May 2024.

      • Campus is continuing to assess existing on-premises deployments and needs going forward.

  • Prioritized JIRA Issues and Enhancements

    • 2022 Finalization

      • Completed the data freeze of 2022 annual data on 5/12/2023.

      • RP coding process for 2022 data is continuing and will be merged into the frozen data set once completed.

      • The WisTransPortal and Community Maps nightly import of 2022 data has been frozen, however the data is still considered preliminary pending final sign-off from the CRU and Crash Database Work Group.

      • Migrate to the TOPS VxRail Oracle 19c platform

      • DMV Customer Number enhancements

  • Purge and Archiving Processes

    • Purge and Archive processes both continuing to run smoothly.

    • 962,676 total archived crashes of which 354,581 represent purged crashes (the archive adds approximately 15K crashes per month).  This includes 1,797,143 total image files.

  • FY24 Project Planning

    • FY24 SPR application and budget submitted on 4/28.

  • HWYCLASS Working Group

    • Canceled the May 23 meeting due to conflicts and pending data request

    • TOPS working on the STN/WSLR/LINK-LINK data request to BSHP

    • Continuing to onboarding a grad student to help with the effort

  • WisTransPortal / Community Maps

    • Frozen 2022 data set available but still marked as preliminary

Crash Records Unit

Questions from Law Enforcement Agencies:

  • CRU business unit provided email, phone, and remote support to law enforcement agencies to resolve Validation errors in the DT4000 crash form.

  • We received 14 LEA questions in the last 4 weeks, this time there were questions about  different crash scenarios involving

    • 4 Hit and Run Crashes

    • 1 crash about Crash diagram

    • 3 Questions about Non-Reportable Crashes

    • 1 involving fatal crash.

Transmission failures:

  • We addressed 18 transmission failures between April 28th until now after providing solution to the agencies.

    • 6 are transmitted

    • 8 are transmitted as other Document (Duplicate Document Number)

    • 3 are pending with Agencies

    • 1 is reported to Badger TraCS for bug fix.

DT4000 Fatal Crashes:

Quality Check process for DT4000 fatal crashes is performed which comes in Resolve. The process starts with creating a Jira issue for DT4000 basic check and then and assigned to the FARS team,

  • FARS team performs quality check for

    • Whether All Fatal Injuries are Shown, Diagram, Narrative and Sequence of events are Good, and whether DT3480 is available

Based on the results of the quality check process the agency is contacted to amend the crash report.

  • 3 fatal crashes are under agency review for missing Fatal Supplement & 1 crash needs Agency Amendment.

  • Tracking is done for missing DT4000 fatal crashes, and the agency is contacted when a 3-week due date is met from the crash date.

  • Currently, we do not have any missing fatal crashes meeting the three-week due date.

Online Purchase of Crash Reports

  • UAT testing completed for purchase of crash reports. Vendor for Payment System was changed from US Bank to NIC PAY.

  • WIN has informed that the deployment to production is scheduled for June 1, 2023 and verification will be done at 8:00 AM.

Enhancements to Crash Database & Resolve System

  • User Interface enhancements to General Crash View/Edit in Resolve system for Search by Agency and search by Government Property Tag.

  • And also bug fixes in System Stability are successfully deployment and verified in production on May 3rd

  •  In the last four weeks, 6 change requests including one emergency change request and five normal change requests was submitted to Change Advisory Board which includes:

    • Emergency Change Request for UW network degradation issues

    • Monthly server maintenance for May 2023.

    • Resolve system Updates - UI Enhancements Resolve search by Agency and Government Property Tag & System Stability bug fixes.

    • The TOPS Lab has added new web certificates for WisTransPortal and Community Maps.

    • Data finalization for crash data 2022.

    • Cancelled change request for fall back data finalization 2022.
