Task 3-26: Secure Confidential Attachments Folder

Task 3-26: Secure Confidential Attachments Folder

  1. Identify the confidential attachments folder.

    1. If in task 3-1 the attachments folder was set as %networkpath%\Attachments\, the confidential attachments folder will be located in \Attachments\Confidential folder of your TraCS network folder in a network environment or in C:\ProgramData\TraCS\Attachments\Confidential (Windows 7) or C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\TraCS\Attachments\Confidential (Windows XP) in a standalone environment.

    2. If in task 3-1 the attachments folder was set to another location, the confidential files will be stored in a subfolder, called \Confidential, under this location.

Confidential Folder Location: ___________________________________________________

  1. Set the operating system permissions on the confidential subfolder such that only authorized personnel can access it.

    1. Typically a sub-set of users is granted access to the confidential folder.

    2. Confidential files are stored under a case number subfolder beneath the confidential folder.  If needed, security can be applied to a case folder for highly sensitive cases.
