Task 3.22.2: Enable BarCode Reader for the TraCS System

Purpose: Enable Bar Code Reader for TraCS.

Requirements: Master computer. For Hosted Environment, do all steps on one computer then create distribution to get changes out.

There are many barcode readers available on the market, there are three barcode reader brands that TraCS has tested and confirmed work with TraCS:

Double click the shortcut for the TraCS Configuration Manager, located on your desktop.
Sign in with account 00001.
Click Setup ribbon.
Click the External Information button.
Enable Bar Code if your agency plans to use a Bar Code device with TraCS.
1. Select the DLL tab.
2. Expand the External DLLs item.
3. Select the Monitoring DLLs item.
4. Import Bar Code:
  1. Click the Import DLLs button.
  2. Expand the DLLs item.
  3. Select Bar Code.
  4. Click OK.
5. Enable Bar Code.
  1. Expand External DLLs | Monitoring DLLS
  2. Select Bar Code
  3. Check the enabled check box.
6. Click the Apply button.
Click the OK button to save the changes
All Office machines are updated as soon as you click Apply and re-login to TraCS. However, a distribution will need to be created and run in order to push the changes to standard mobile clients.
1. Complete task 4.1 to make a new distribution.
  1. Distribution will run the next time the user logs in and logs off if distribution is set to automatic download.
  2. Or when the user presses the run distribution button.
