SharePoint Navigation and Search Tips (wildcard search)

A personalized page of SharePoint content can be accessed by individual users as shown below.

From the menu that opens, click on SharePoint.

What opens is a personalized page for the individual user, with a host of links including:

  • Frequent Sites

  • Suggested Sites

  • Recent Sites

  • Sites that the user has chosen to “Follow” (see instructions below)

The option to FOLLOW a site is included in the upper right of each site.

Sites that users follow will appear on their Following list and will have their content prioritized in subsequent searches that the user performs.

The upper left portion of the personalized page also includes a powerful search tool. Wildcard searches for any matching content can be used by enclosing the search word in quotes followed by an asterisk. For example, a wildcard search for Fleet would be entered as “fleet*”.

Search results using this search box can be further refined to include only Sites or Files etc., and can be filtered by when the associated content was last modified/updated.
